Day 14 – Predator Exhibit Dive & The Cape of Good Hope

I did another dive today; this one turned out much better. I dove the Predator Exhibit at the Two Oceans Aquarium, and was able to get within a couple of feet of some Ragged Tooth sharks(aka Sand Tiger sharks) in the tank. There was also an attention-loving giant sea turtle that I got to play around with and some fish whose faces looked like grumpy old mens’. Getting certified as a scuba diver was worth it for this one dive. Check out the 1080p footage of the dive in the full album! Rushi was also at the aquarium and took pictures  & explored the aquarium while I dove.

Afterwards we drove down the cape peninsula again. We stopped at the Lighthouse Cafe near Simon’s Town and had some awesome pizza. After lunch we continued south all the way to the Cape of Good Hope on the southern tip of Africa. We hiked to Cape Point, and out to the Cape of Good Hope. The scenery was gorgeous, we saw some unusually friendly beavers, and the experience was quite relaxing.

After getting back to the hotel & relaxing for a bit, at Rushi’s recommendation we decided to check out the night life at Cape Town; a place called Long Street(because it is a long street). We ate at a fast food mixed Asian restaurant(really it was mostly Indian, and run by Indians). My mango lassi & cold samosas were underwhelming but Rushi said his food was good. We then went to a highly reviewed club called Julip. Rushi felt that it was alright, but I was amused at how tiny the place was(about the size of a house’s living room). Long Street is supposedly known for its music, but every place we went to only had DJ’s playing recordings. We didn’t expect “music” to mean people playing MP3’s on crappy loudspeakers. After the Julip, we went to another bar/club where Rushi had a drink & then headed back to the hotel. Overall it wasn’t bad, but didn’t quite live up to expectations.
